Kizer Tee Times Lost; Members Asked to Call Again

Due to an electrical outage, the tee times for next week's tournament at Kizer have been lost. The course is requesting that members who had previously acquired a tee time call again and confirm their time with Kizer course officials. Members are asked not to request a more convenient time than the one originally assigned to them as this will cause even further confusion and delay. This should be done as soon as possible. Pass the word to other members who might not visit this blog.

Important Spring Tournament Information

For the Spring Tournament coming up on Tuesday the membership should be aware that it is a two-day tournament held on Tuesday and the following Thursday. It will be a two-man select shot format and players are asked to come at least 50 minutes early as the registration desk will be extremely busy since it is also a shotgun start at 8:00 A.M. Those wishing to practice should think about being at the clubhouse at least an hour before starting time.
Players will be asked to pay for both days on Tuesday. The "regular senior walking" will pay $39 for the two days. A "regular senior riding" will owe $65 while a "senior with annual card walking" will play $16. A "senior with annual card riding" will owe $42 for the two-day tournament.
On Thursday, the rush to the clubhouse will not be as busy but players are still urged to be mindful of the shotgun start which will be time-consuming effort on both days.  The pros and staff will need time to organize and get players to the proper holes to start the tournament.

UT Seeking Help With Men's NCAA Regional Championships

The University of Texas is hosting the Men's NCAA Regional Championships in May and is looking for volunteers according to Jordan Hunter, Events Assistant for UT's Athletic Department. Hunter expressed his desire in an email to Jimmy Olivares III saying, "This May we will be hosting a NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championship at the UT Golf Club. We are currently looking for volunteers for May 15th through May 17th. We will need as many volunteers as we can get by April 1st. The University has created a website for people to sign up and it provides more information as to what we need."
According to Hunter, shirts and food will be provided for all volunteers. "It is a great opportunity for anyone over the age of 18, and gives anyone a chance to be involved in a NCAA Golf Regional Championship and view some amazing golf."
The volunteer website is stated below. Clicking on it or putting the address in your browser search engine will send you to the site where you will be given more information such as what they actually need. A partial list of positions are walking scorers, keeping pace of play, on-course spotters, leaderboard operator, hospitality, and rovers. Starting times for players is 8 a.m. each day with play completed at about 2-3 pm.  Volunteers should expect to be available at that time as well. The website is:

ASGA Tournament Schedule Updated with New Format Changes

ASGA Tournament Chairman Sam Jenkins is announcing significant changes to the tournament calendar of events. The following changes have been made to the Hancock tournaments on June 1, July 13, August 24, and September 28. The format for these dates will change to the Individual format competition.

Also, the April 18th 4-Man Select Shot tournament (pick partners) at Morris Williams will change to 4-Man Best 2 Net Balls (per hole) (pick partners) format.

The May 16th TBA site will most likely be Bluebonnet and May 23 TBA site is yet to be decided as Jenkins is looking at several site possibilities. The city golf courses will not be available on these two dates due to the Texas High School Golf Championships being held in Austin.

These changes are being made simultaneously on the ASGA website in the tournament calendar. Please update your calendar with these changes.
