“KEEP SCORECARDS CLEAN” Contest

Board member Travis McWhorter has come up a new and welcomed idea that encourages players to do a better job at keeping their scorecards clean, neat, and legible. A clean and legible scorecard goes a long way in getting scores out to the membership in a timely fashion. Most of the problems in recording and reporting scores are caused by scorecards that in some cases are unreadable.

"Clean Scorecard" Contest Announced

There have been ongoing issues with the legibility of scorecards that contributed to scoring errors that require revisions to previously posted tournament results.  This adds unnecessary work for course personnel and in ASGA web operations.

Improvement has been noted  recently but work still needs to be done. To further this effort the ASGA Board of Directors, in conjunction with Austin city golf course management, are announcing a  "Clean Scorecard" Contest .   Examples of good score keeping practices (and some not so good) can be viewed at Scorecard Examples

Jimmy Clay's changes play well with golfers

Jimmy Clay's changes were a vast and welcome improvement as ASGA members were able to see on Tuesday, August 18th. The first change members were able to view was the redesign of the cart path and surrounding area on hole #3 which allows the water to run off rather than sit on the path and create mud holes. Next came the green changes to the par five 4th hole which now has a gentle slope

Jimmy Clay Results

The results were received early this morning (July 19) and processing was delayed by personal issues until this evening.  My apologies for the delay.   Normally if results are received the evening of the tournament they should be available the following Wednesday morning.

A further note on Flight #6:  Two listings were in the provided results from the course for one member;  the second listing was used in the posting.  Contact me at handicaps@austinsga.org
for corrections.

Morris Williams July 7 Results Revision

The results for the Individual Net tournament at Morris Williams on July 7 have been revised.  There were four instances of incorrect scores due to faulty math when hole-by-hole scores were totaled or when handicaps were subtracted from the gross score.   The only effect on place and payouts was in the first flight that resulted in a three-way tie for 1st place.  The revised results are available on ASGA Status via the 2015 2-M/Individual Net link on the Results page.

As noted in a previous post, scorecard legibility has been a problem in some instances and this contributes to  the need for revisions when a detailed review of the results is performed.   Members are responsible for their hole scores and are disqualified for attesting to an inaccurate hole score.   Illegible cards and/or entries could result in the same.
