President's Update - May 26, 2020

THE BIG SIGN-UP PRACTICE IS COMING.

Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27, is an historic moment for ASGA. The new Tee Time Registration System is ready for our final test. Dozens of your peers and board members have tested it to get it ready. Now it is your turn to use it for the first time if you were not involved before.

You alone, if you have no team, or you and your 2-person teammate or your foursome should decide who will sign your group up just as though we were playing an actual tournament (Best Ball Net: 2-M, Pick Partner June 2 at Morris Williams.

The time to sign up begins Wednesday and will last through Friday. You can do this anytime and being early is of no value as you will read. To simulate and for practice we set this tournament to be the format that will be used at our actual beginning tournament June 16 at Riverside. We have chosen Riverside as the inaugural event because Riverside has offered us a very safe and accommodating way to play. The City is close to outlining their plan for the balance of the year. We will share both plans sometime after June 3.

We'll take a week off from testing and prepare for the grand introduction of our system live and return to playing tournament golf on June 16 at Riverside. For those of you that seldom play Riverside stand by to be amazed. We believe you are going to want to play!

Now how do you sign up for the simulated test? On the home page of ASGA click on Member Programs. You will then be looking at Tee Time Registration. Here you will find a menu with three categories. You should open "Read Registration Help" before starting. It will explain the rest. You will then register your team as though we are actually playing the Morris Williams Tournament.
Real time golf is around the corner. Please join me in thanking the entire Tee Time Registration team for their great work.

President's Update - May 19, 2020

Notice: Updates will be sent by email in the future

Tuesday, May 19, 2020
- You have "read the red" on the home page for several weeks that updates will be each Wednesday until further notice. So consider this paragraph the further notice. In the future when updates are posted under News you will also receive an email advising you of such update.
Tuesday Paul Redden launched our email communication system and you should have received the first one at the email address ASGA has on file for you.You should read it again. It fully outlines our plans to use this tool to help us communicate and that coupled with our new online Tee Time Reservation System (TTRS pronounced "Tiers") will make your life easier.
The ASGA's TTRS is nearing the simulated test run we have been leading up to. We will take another week break and prepare for that test. The city has asked us to cancel at least one more date, June 2, 2020 at Morris Williams. So we have decided to use that date to have a full blown test. After we announce the simulation details next week we will want you to go to Tee Time Reservation site which will magically appear under Member Programs . You will then register your team as though we are actually playing the Morris Williams Tournament.
Now that was a big time further notice and update! In the future you should read your emails and I will "see" you on the News.

President's Update - May 12, 2020

Tuesday, May 12, 2020
Searching for a New Way and a New Website Chairman

ASGA Golf will return at a date to be announced and when it does two things are certain, we will have a new way to play around the risk of the Covid-19 virus and a new method to sign up to play. Last week's updated test and the addition of a few new testers resulted in our most productive week yet. The testers were all very positive about the fairness and ease of operation of the new Tee Time Reservation System presented.
Later this week we will be testing an email app with all active members. This app will be used to announce our first full blown group test of the Tee Time Reservation System for a simulated event scheduled for May 26. We will then have the new Tee Time Reservation System ready. A new way of playing is under review by the City Management and hopefully we will soon be able to announce our return date.
I have not appointed a new Website Chairman yet. Paul Redden would need to spend a lot of time with the person I appoint. Paul has been so busy programming the final touches for out new Tee Time Reservation System that his time is limited.
However, another issue is the right candidate. Please, if you have some or most of the skill needed to manage our website, email or call me. Should you know of a member that is just shy but really could do it, please let me know their name and I will contact them.
So let us get really imaginative. Should you know of a person who is not a member and is 62 or older but would be near perfect for the job please, give me their name, phone number and level of interest in golf. If they like or love golf that would be helpful. If they have the skills for our website and have heard of golf, we have some great players and teaching them golf is a real possibility.
Come on team, help us out here.

President's Update

Tuesday, May 5, 2020

The test goes on and we are not talking Covid-19

Beginning Thursday of this week we will add a few more testers and continue to refine our newly developed online Tee Time Reservation System. In the not too distant  future we are going to present it to the entire membership and ask each of your normal groupings to go online, sign up your team as though we were ready to play. That test will conclude with a tee time sheet posted on Sunday that will be the one presented electronically to the golf course to use to manage the tournament. When we do that we hope it will be the week that is the last week we will actually not have a tournament, but will be a dress rehearsal for the coming real thing.
At this point we are working hard to then have a real tournament using our new system the following week. Please note we did not commit to an actual date, but really do think it will be within a month or less. We will keep you posted.
