ASGA President McWhorter Announces Changes

ASGA President Travis McWhorter has announced changes in the makeup of the ASGA Board due to the untimely and sad passing of our tournament director, Bob Remey. McWhorter has appointed Sam Jenkins, currently the ASGA Vice-President, to take over the duties of the Tournament Chairmanship and will be working closely with the Handicap Chairman, Paul ReddenShawn Higgins has agreed to step up to the office of Vice-President leaving his duties as Delegate-at-Large. McWhorter has reached out to the membership and selected Melvin Hitchcock to replace Higgins at the Delegate-at-Large spot.
“Melvin comes highly recommended by several current board members. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force and at the age of 66 will bring a bit of youth to the overall board. He will certainly be an asset to the board and a reliable representative for the membership. McWhorter continued, “Sam Jenkins, in addition to his new duties, will continue his partnership with Paul Redden involving the Blog and Grand Prix and their ongoing efforts to automate the tournament results and operations. These appointments are good thru this year until my administrative duties end on November 1,”

100 Club Reminder

As announced earlier, the separate flight for 100 Club members for Individual Net events has been discontinued and the members will be integrated into the regular flights.  This is effective for the Individual Net event at Lions Municipal on February 7, 2017.

A related item: The USGA course rating and slope for Lions Municipal were updated in 2016 and the changes are effective for ASGA handicap calculations with the February 7 event.  Course rating and slope were increased for all tee boxes and both genders.  (Note: the Lions Municipal scorescards still reflect the old rating/slope values).

Members who wish to move in or out of  the 100 Club or with questions on the rating changes noted above can contact the ASGA Handicap Chairman (Click here for contact information).
