Dear ASGA members,
The
feeling of pride that feels me these days makes me so proud to be a
part of the USA. It is my belief that what has sustained the USA as a
country through so many great ups and a few near tragic downs is the
belief in most American Citizens that we can do most anything we set our
minds to. When millions of organizations of all types contribute by
finding a way to succeed it builds an amazing foundation for the
country. When the chips are down we all bond together. I love those
times.
ASGA
is one of those organizations that has thrived for over 50 years, even
through all levels of headwinds and tailwinds, keeping our organization
alive while becoming a major part of golf in central Texas. This type of
success leads to the success of the USA. This means that every year we
have to replenish our volunteer board with more great people to keep
dreaming and growing. July the 4th will begin the 251st year for the USA
and is the beginning of the time ASGA starts to pick our future
leadership for the 2026-2027season. Following are some
appointments I am making to ensure just that. We need your support and
willingness to serve when asked.
The
Election, banquet, President's Cup (Team Match Play) and announcements
of any new Honorary Member(s) will be held October 5, 2026 at Morris
Williams. To prepare for that--here are the leaders to manage the processes.
Nominating Committee: Dan Roberts Chair and Travis McWhorter as member. Dan may add others.

Match Play: Under the guidance of Greg Marshall, Events Chair, the Defending Red Team will have as Captain Allan Myers and Co-Captain Bruce Jones. The Blue Team will have Captain Shawn Higgins and Co-Captain Bill Burke lead their attempt to beat the Red Team and take the President's Cup back.
The
Banquet: The food will be managed by Dan Roberts with a committee he
has appointed. The rumor is the popular Taco Bar will be back.
It
will be my honor to manage the election and meeting at the banquet
following the Match Play. Be on your "best behavior" when around the
Captains so you can get selected to the winning team when draft day comes! You will need to watch the website and get your tickets to attend
the festivities, then a few days before the event the teams
will be drafted by the Captains.
The summer is here and fall is around the corner. Play often and have fun.
