Slayton leads Individual GP race

Jack Slayton, who has a history of competing at the top of the Grand Prix points race, is currently the leader of the pack racking up 76 points. Although the race for the top spot is still up for grabs, a fight for places second through fifth is being waged as four golfers are separated by only five points. Travis McWhorter, who has participated in every individual tournament this year, is second with 72.5 points and is followed by Sam Jenkins with 71.5 points. Don Davis and Ken Garrett follow closely with 68.5 and 67.5 points, respectively.
Four other individuals make up a middle group that includes last
year's champion, Terry Rodriguez. Rodriguez sits in ninth place with 65 points. Just ahead of him is Paul Redden with 65.5 points and Jerry Newton with 66 points. Wally Yousef, with the highest per tournament average of 13.4 points, is being challenged for his sixth place spot by these three and has a total of 67 points.
In a dead heat for the last spot in the top ten is the threesome of Frank Segura, Jim Abercrombie, and Richard Ortiz. They each have 63.5 points.
One other golfer outside the top ten that warrants watching is Grady Morris, who sits just outside the top ten with 62 points but more importantly with a 12.4 per tournament average. Others with a high per tournament average with at least four tournaments under their belts are Wil Walther (12.1), Tom Walters (13.4), Charles King (12.1), and Andrew Brown (12.0).
